N.B. Some Areas of Special Sovereignty (or commonly known as Dependencies) such as Reunion and St. Helena which are considered (by UN Statistics Division) both to be in East Africa and West Africa Region Respectively, are not represented in Figure 2. (above)
And added to this (to maintain that Africa currently has 54 Countries), Figure 2. (above) excludes (disputed) Western Sahara as a country in North Africa Region, even though the UN Statistics Division includes it.
Did you know that the The African Union (AU) and the African Development Bank (AfDB) slightly use different subdivisions other than that of the UN Statistics Division?
The AU includes (disputed) Western Sahara or Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic as 55th African Country and has a designated region entirely for the African Diaspora.
