The conflicts under way in Guinea-Bissau, Mali and the Central African Republic are front-page news in the international press, even though they are comparable to what is happening in certain parts of Indonesia, Malaysia or Myanmar.
Stories abound of piracy activities off the coast of Somalia, even though there are five times more such incidents in the Straits of Malacca.
Fewer people are affected by conflict in the whole of Africa than by the latent war between India and Pakistan in the Kashmir region. But people only talk about Africa!
This unfortunate image deters potential international investments in the continent and creates a real obstacle to its competitiveness.
