China Map in Comparison (Part 2)
Did you know China is the 3rd largest country in the world? Yes, you seen it on maps but it's difficult to really envisage how big it is.
Did you also know China is quite large, some parts of it are closer to Africa (Egypt) than other parts of China?
For example, if you're in Akto in West China, you are closer to the Maldives than you are to say, Da Hinggan Ling (a prefecture in North-East China).
Did you know that China is so vast its weather and climate vary massively from all 4 corners of the country? From cold and snowy in the North to humid and hot in the South. To the desert and the Himalayas in the West, to fertile lands in the East?

In this ABC and for the purpose of consistence, we will learn that China has a landmass (land area + water bodies) of 9,707,961 sq. km (3,747,877 miles sq.) and covers 6.3% of world's total landmass.
And, we will especially compare China Map by Size and Populace using 3 unique perspectives; that of an American, an African and a Brit investor.

1.) China Map in Comparison for the American Investor

China has a land area of 9,596,960 sq. km (3,618,783 miles sq.) while the United States (continental USA) has a land area of 9,147,420 sq. km (3, 531,837 miles sq.), making China approximately 2.2% larger than the US.
N.B.
The United States (continental USA) total land area (including water bodies) is 9,372,610 sq. km (3, 618,783 miles sq.) making up 6.1% of the world's landmass. Whilst China's is 9,707,961 sq. km (3,747,877 miles sq.)
Driving by car from Shanghai (in the East of China) to Tibet (in the West) takes approximately 45 hours; whilst from New York to Los Angeles takes 40hours by car.

Compared to the US with approximately 300 million people, standing at a 4.2% of the world's populace. (Meaning 1.1 billion less people live in the US).
Shanghai boosts 27 million in population, which is about 3 times that of New York's 8.5 million.
China has over 600 cities with over 100 of these cities with a populace of 1 million people. Compared to the US, with only 10 cities with over 1 million people.
2.) China Map in Comparison for the African Investor

China is 9.7million sq. km, whilst Nigeria is 923,768 sq. km. This means China is 9.36% times bigger than Nigeria for an equivalent comparison as shown in to-scale map, Figure 3. above.
Travelling from the Northernmost point of China, Mohe county in Da Hinggan Ling, to the southernmost point, Hai'nan in Guangdong, would take you 53 hours by car on a 4, 900 km journey.
Whereas, traveling from Jigawa State, north of Nigeria to Akwa Ibom State, south of Nigeria only takes 18 hours by car on a 1,908 km journey.

Compared to the Nigeria with approximately 200 million people, standing at 2.6% of the world's populace. (Meaning, 1.2 billion less people live in Nigeria than in China.)
Shanghai boosts 27 million in population, whilst Lagos's is 14 million.
China has over 600 cities with over 100 of these cities with a populace of 1 million people. Compared to the Nigeria, with only 10 cities with over 1 million people.
3.) China Map in Comparison for the Brit Investor

China is 9.7million sq. km, whilst the UK is 243,000 sq. km. This means China is 3,839% times larger than the UK for an equivalent comparison as shown in to-scale map, Figure 4. above .
By car, travelling from Beijing to Shanghai is a 1,200km journey that takes about 12 hours - the same amount of time as driving from London to Salzburg, a route that takes you through 4 different countries!
Travelling from the Northernmost point of China, Mohe county in Da Hinggan Ling, to the southernmost point, Hai'nan in Guangdong, would take you 53 hours by car on a 4, 900km journey.
That's the equivalent of driving from Plymouth to the very top of Scotland and back down again, twice.
